Gottigere Lake Photo Gallery-Untouched by NICE Road
09:00
Today i take you to Gottigere Lake, these images were taken back in 2007, before NICE road was made to cut through and bisect this 500 year old lake, Gottigere lake is an upstream lake of Hulimavu Lake and Madivala Lake, it is spread on the eastern side of the Bannerghatta road, it has suffered encroachments repeatedly and also the sewage water inflow has polluted and degraded the lake badly. It is surrounded by RML Law college and T.Jhon College , find below many more images to see how it looked before it was untouched by NICE Road.
Behind the lake you can see the the "Burhani Masjid" it is the largest Mosque in Bangalore belonging to Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community, the north of the Gottigere lake is called Bohra Layout, a residential neighborhood home to large number of Dawoodi Bohra Muslims.
And this one is T.Jhon College in the background and this is also the exact place where the NICE road stands today, passing right next to T.Jhon college and cutting across the Gottigere Lake Bed.
Sign board by Lake Development Authority (LDA) a toothless tiger which has failed miserable in protecting the Bangalore lakes and serve its core purpose, it also shows other name of Gottigere Lake as "Tank East of Kammanahalli"
NICE road Temporary entry leading towards Kanakapura road side, next to Royal Hermitage Layout.
Patches of water here and there..
Zoom shot showing Tank Bund of Gottigere Lake.
This particular picture i took standing from the Bannerghatta main road itself and as evident the lake started right next to the Bannerghatta road showing no private property in between, but Today if you visit the Lake the land is now occupied by private persons due to its commercial value being on the Bannerghatta Main road, whether it is encroached or not it is upto authorities to investigate and reclaim. On my next visit i will take the latest images and video to update here .

Hi, I am Manjusainath from Deccan Herald. I am appalled to see the pathetic state of Gottigere Lake. If you could allow me to use one or two pictures for publication to highlight the poor condition of the lake, I'll be thankful to you. It will help rejuvenating the lake.
