These photos of Sarakki Lake were taken in May 2006 and you can see the lake was full and live with clear water, I remember then the local residents association had undertaken a clean up and tree plantation drive on the shore line towards Puttenahalli road, but by December 2006 the lake was again covered with weeds and the trees never survived, as seen in the last 3 images.

In 2006 Elita Promenade was yet to start construction and even Shoba Tulip was under-construction which can be seen in 4th image, today the Sarakki Lake is dried up and looks like a grassland. With this apathy towards our existing Lakes we are heading towards a serious water shortage in Bangalore, as already seen in areas like Sarjapur road where the Ground water is dried up and Water Mafia is making a killing out of this water tanker business, Government needs to take serious measures to save the existing lakes and  enforce Rain Water Harvesting. Bangalore does not need to pump water from Cauvery river which flows 100 kilometers away, our own rivers and lakes are more sufficient if revived scientifically.
